The Werewolf

Description
If in Western European myths and beliefs a werewolf is unequivocally a negative character—feared, avoided, and heroically fought—then among the Slavs werewolves were heroes: respected people, defenders against incoming enemies, always ready to come to the rescue of anyone in trouble.

“The man-wolf” had special combat, mental, healing, and magical techniques, and in battle could fight more than a hundred enemies and win. For Rus’—Slavs, Veles was considered the patron of werewolves, and legends and epics were sung about their military exploits. In this book, through the image of one such character, I want to introduce the reader to the course of historical events in Ancient Rus’ at the beginning of the second millennium.
