Wolves and Sheep

The landowner Meropeya Murzavetskaya wants to marry off her pleasure-loving nephew, Apollo, to the wealthy widow Evlampiya Kupavina and get her hands on her fortune. She uses spells, forged letters, and fake promissory notes. The unfortunate “sheep” Kupavina is about to end up in Murzavetskaya’s “claws”… But then a far more dangerous “wolf” appears—one who “swallows” not only the landowner and the widow, but the entire provincial town.
