Description
Jules Gabriel Verne (1828–1905) is a French geographer and writer, a classic of adventure literature, and one of the founders of science fiction. In terms of the number of translations of his books into other languages, he ranks only behind Agatha Christie.

You are offered an audio version of Jules Verne’s famous novel “Around the World in Eighty Days.” In a translation by Marko Vovchok (real name Maria Alexandrovna Vilinska-Markovich; 1833–1907) it was published in Russia under the title “In 80 Days Around the World. An Extraordinary Journey.” The novel’s hero, Phileas Fogg, bets that he can circumnavigate the globe from west to east in no more than 80 days—a record time at the time, considering the technical capabilities of the means of travel then in existence. Fogg’s voyage begins in England, then he goes to France, Italy, Egypt, India, China, Japan, and America. Dangers lurk for the traveler at every step—and how many different modes of transport will he have to change to reach his goal!
