Water in a Sieve: The Witch's Apocrypha

In the village of Chinabro, a recently arrived inquisitor dies under very strange circumstances. His death is blamed on a woman nicknamed La Vecchia. Many locals hate her, and at first glance it seems like a simple case—but the accused behaves far too unusually during interrogations, and she tells an account far too strange, despite torture and inquiries. You can’t simply brush her off, because according to old tales, dragons once lived here, and they’re still sleeping underground. That’s why, in the local mountains, there is vermilion—a wonderful mineral that can cure all diseases and grant immortality. At least that’s what people say. The only problem is that it can be mined only by the nearby pagans, who call themselves the Enlightened—and the inquisitor’s death seems connected to all of this. Theories multiply, reality fights uncertainty, and the truth slips away. Perhaps the dragons have already awakened—and now it’s unclear who faces greater danger: the accused woman or her executioners.
