Description
Maxim Prokhorov is drafted into the Red Army on the eve of war. Thanks to his flawless German, he is assigned to a reconnaissance school, where he receives a cover story and becomes a “Wehrmacht soldier” under the name Schreiber. In May 1942, a group of Soviet saboteurs is dropped behind enemy lines: they are tasked with establishing contact with active partisan units. At the same time, the squad is ordered to blow up a railway bridge—an essential transport artery for the Hitlerites. But at the most decisive moment, the Germans find a cache with explosives prepared by our fighters, and the operation is on the brink of failure. All that Schreiber and his comrades can rely on is their knowledge of the language and… a special kind of cunning…

As brutally truthful novels about the Great Patriotic War. The roar of distant explosions, the smell of gunpowder, the clank of tank tracks—ominous signs of those front-line years come alive again on the pages of books written by the grandchildren of those who, in 1945, reached Berlin.
