This audiobook, created with an astonishing sense of presence, is based on the autobiographical books by the legendary musician Andrey Makarevich, “At the Beginning There Was Sound” and “Me, Ovcа.” The text is read by the author.
In the original vignettes, the image of Moscow of the late 1950s is recreated—when the “thaw” blossomed in the Soviet Union, when the air was filled with an ocean of hope, and every morning brought with it a feeling of quiet happiness. Within this atmosphere, one hears all kinds of sounds: from far away, a familiar melody appears, born of the memories of a little boy; the voices of that era’s musical idols can be heard; and the listener sets off on an exciting journey “on the waves of my memory.” That world no longer exists, but its charm and loveliness permeate the pages of the audiobook.
People, objects, and personal events—no matter how small—shape an era and our attitude toward it. Here, good and evil coexist… the poor and the rich… in harmony and in discord with themselves.
This book is about childhood that ended when the Beatles began.
Andrey Makarevich created an audio version of his book in cooperation with the Gosteleradiofond and the AÚДИТОРIЯ agency, including excerpts from popular radio broadcasts, compositions, radio dramas, and melodies from different periods.
This event can boldly be called unique; to this day, materials from the Gosteleradiofond have not been used in the creation of memoir audio works.
