A fantastic story in which Vonnegut reveals the idea of body-swapping between souls. This is a new stage in evolution: people suddenly realized that caring for their bodies had become too difficult and too expensive—and they learned to do without them. Those who learned to do this became known as amphibionts. They created special «body-storage facilities,» where souls could choose a body they liked—on a temporary lease.
