The biography of Vasily Semyonovich Alyokhin is shrouded in legendary courage. It is no coincidence that his books are included in the exhibition "People of Korchagin Spirit" at the Nikolai Ostrovsky Literary-Memorial Museum in Sochi.
The fate of this extraordinary man is astonishing and dramatic. Even those who knew him only slightly feel uneasy at the realization of how thorny his life path turned out to be, of what fell to the lot of just one person.
A youth wounded by fascist bullets, saved from death and compelled to live by a soldier’s courage and the kind strength of a man’s heart—this is how the image of V. S. Alyokhin appears, his writerly and human fate, and this is also how the main theme of his works is revealed.
Vasily Alyokhin was awarded the public recognition prize "Kursk Antonovka". The veteran of the Great Patriotic War truly earned the right to be the winner of the prestigious competition "Person of the Year – 2004".
Everything here is logical and natural: both the nomination "Honor and Dignity", in which, among other contenders, preference was given to the famous native of Rylsk, and the official wording of the jury of the competition "For the personal courage of a man who repeated the literary and life feat of Nikolai Ostrovsky and for the novel-dilogy "Visozhary" - about the people of the Kursk land".
