The Virus

"Virus" is a science-fiction novella by John Scalzi, created in 2014. It describes a medical story about a flu-like virus that, in the near future, will spread across the entire globe and affect most of the world’s population.

Initially mistaken for bird flu, the “Super Bowl flu” killed 400 million people worldwide and left millions “trapped” inside their own bodies, unable to communicate with the outside world.

The story of the fight against the virus is presented as recollections of eyewitnesses to the events—doctors, scientists, engineers, politicians, entrepreneurs, and the victims.
