Shemhèt is the priestess of the goddess of death and the heir to the Babylonian throne. She is devoted to her calling, though her heart is torn between her obligations and love for a forbidden lover. However, one dark night changes everything. The king is killed by his own brother, and now Babylon faces a choice: accept death or renew its oaths. But this is only the beginning of the fall of a great kingdom. Shadows hang over the city, bringing grief and suffering to both people and gods. Shemhèt must choose: remain faithful to the dead or to the living.
