Continuation of the “Project ‘Vector’” series. My name is Alexey Zorin. I’m an emergency doctor. I’m married. I’m waiting for the birth of a son. It’s the year 2053. Life is measured and calm. It’s starting to irritate me. After a decade of underground work coordinating the “Aresteya” group, which my father led, I can’t take this quiet life anymore. But my father is dead—before he died, he ordered the group to be shut down and for us to live for the interests of the family.
My wife, an FSO major, because of pregnancy was transferred to work in the first (secret) department of the state military archive. Seeing my suffering, she suggested that I take part in sorting out secret historical documents together with graduate student Petrov from the Petrovs department. While collecting materials for my dissertation on the partisan movement in the Demyansk area in 1942–43, me and the graduate student found that one of the detachments were time-travelers from the future. Which means that at some point, someone would—and might already be—revealed the mechanism of time travel. Now I need to find out: who will do it, and when?
