Evgeny Veniaminovich Speransky (1903–1998) was a Russian Soviet actor, director, and playwright for puppet theatre, People's Artist of the RSFSR (1966). In 1925–31 he worked at the Puppet Theatre at the Central House of Artistic Education for Children. From 1931 he was an actor at the Central Puppet Theatre under the direction of S.V. Obraztsov (one of its founders). Among his roles: Aladdin and the Wisest (“The Magic Lamp of Aladdin,” by Gernet), the Conferancier (“An Extraordinary Concert”), the Devil (“Noah’s Ark,” by Shtok) and others. He directed: “Loves me, loves me not” (Polyakov), “Pinocchio” (Borisova), and others. Author of plays: “Divorce Case,” “Under the Rustle of Your Eyelashes,” “I-go-go!,” “The Soldier and the Witch” (after Andersen), and others. Awarded with the Order of the Labour Red Banner and medals.
