In ancient times, the pagan priests of the Baltic tribes—the Zhemaits, Yatvyags, Krivichs, Prussians, and Latgalians—were called vaidelyots. Vaidelyots guarded secret knowledge, defended their peoples, and served as intermediaries with the patron gods...
One hot noon in the year 1220, a Vaidelyot of the Dainavs found an infant at a shrine of the god Ero. The boy was accepted into the tribe, raised as a true warrior and hunter, and given the name Skumand—Heavenly Man. He might have lived an ordinary life, but harsh people from the west arrived in the Dainavs’ lands—Teutonic Order knights, determined to subjugate the inhabitants of the forests.
And so Skumand, along with his faithful friend, the Rus Voislav, had to stand up to defend their homeland!
