In the Land of Musical Wizards

Description
In each of our lives, everything happens for the first time: the first book and the first song, the first lesson and the first meeting, the first joy and first infatuation… And you can get carried away by many things. For example, by collecting. Some collect stamps, others—badges; still others—art postcards or music recordings. A sounding gramophone record often contains pages from beloved books or radio programs, operas or symphonies, familiar poems and songs. From these records you can even make an interesting disco (phonotheque) and keep adding new recordings to it.

If you already collect records, can you be familiar with the boy Vitya from the fairyland of musical wizards? You might ask: “And what does Vitya have to do with it? Is he a famous collector?” Not yet—he hasn’t even thought about this hobby. He’s an ordinary student at a music school, and at first he really didn’t want to practice musical exercises when his classmates were playing football. But he believed in all kinds of wonderful adventures and in the great musical wizard Polyphon.

In the City of Bell-Chimes, Vitya witnessed an astonishing musical competition and met its winner. In Dancegrad, he encountered dances that had mixed up their music and arranged them into a proper order. In the Kingdom of Rhythm…

But let’s set the wizards aside for one minute and return to collections. Vitya’s first two adventures in the land of musical wizards fit on a record that has already been released and gained its listeners. That’s the second record in the cycle “In the Land of Musical Wizards.” Vitya’s adventures continue.

First, he ends up in the realm of Maestro Rhythm. It turns out that not everything is well there either, because Vitya was too lazy to record the melody and rhythm of a cheerful little song properly. New musical miracles helped him save the Song. And when our hero learned that there are magical musical colors, he hurried to Polyphon… to the music school—the wonderful music school where living musical instruments gathered, each with their own character and sound. They, too, had their own life, their pranks, and their worries.

From all his amazing journeys to the fairy land, Vitya carries away a valuable and beautiful baggage—knowledge. Music accompanies him everywhere: songs. Violin and trombone sing, orchestras play, dance melodies sound. Vitya begins to distinguish the musical rhythms of earth and sky, town and village, and the surrounding nature. He has understood how much in music depends on timbre—the sound color. Now he is drawn more and more to Music, and he wants to become a musical wizard himself.

The authors of this fairy tale are the composer Efim Adler, poetess Lorina Dymova, musicologist Tatyana Vendrova, and all the performers would be very glad if listeners of this record truly became interested in music and tried to ensure that their first music collection is constantly enriched with interesting and varied recordings. After all, learning to listen to music is also an amazing miracle!
