In 2017, American robotics scientist Peter Scott-Morgan was diagnosed with ALS—an illness that doctors consider incurable (this disease once destroyed Stephen Hawking’s nerve cells). But Scott-Morgan didn’t give up. He used extensive knowledge, experience, and the newest technologies to replace part of his damaged body functions with electronics. Then the scientist decided to move his avatar into a computer using artificial intelligence and become Peter 2.0—not just to defeat the disease, but to obtain a chance at eternal life inside a machine. This is a real experiment described in a way that resembles the plot of a science-fiction film. Thanks to the scientist’s efforts, people with disabilities gain a chance to survive. The Peter 2.0 experiment has the potential to change the future.
