Description
What was supposed to be an entertaining weekend for Charles Todd turns into a terrible disappointment: his cousin Donald Stuart’s house—the one Todd was invited to—has been ransacked, Donald’s young wife is murdered, and Donald himself becomes the main suspect in the crime. Certain circumstances lead Charles to believe the robbery is connected to his cousin’s recent trip to Australia and the purchase there of a painting by the famous Manning. Todd heads to the Melbourne Cup, convinced that where “all of Australia” gathers, he will surely find the criminal.
