A classic of children’s literature.
Childhood is a bright time that stays with a person for life. But sometimes it is overshadowed by circumstances that a child cannot influence. Vladimir Galaktionovich Korolenko’s (1853–1921) novella “In Bad Company” tells the story of the friendship between a six-year-old boy from a comfortable family and children from a poor environment. Spending time with those whom people are accustomed to call “bad company” gave him the warmth of the soul that he could not find with his father. Step by step, he comes to understand that life is far more complex than a simple division into black and white. This story is read in one sitting, stirring emotion in the heart and strengthening belief in people and true friendship.
