After wandering across the seas and almost reaching despair, the novel’s heroes find themselves on the island of Borneo (for some it’s more familiar by its second name—Kalimantan), with its astonishing, breathtakingly diverse nature. And although it is the world’s second-largest island, there’s a suspicion that when God created it, He clearly did so after sniffing some kind of “something.” As they say, the result is on the face of it—from the island’s absurdly main mountain, Kinabalu. Fish here run along the shore; lizards fly; some flowers smell of stale corpses, while others even hunt living flesh…
So, overcoming countless difficulties and getting to know this peculiar world (mostly with a gastronomic bent), the heroes of the novel show courage and—always with Maин Рид!—reach their goal.
