Graham Greene (1904–1991) is known in Russia as the creator of captivating worldwide-famous novels (“The Quiet American,” “Our Man in Havana,” “The Comedians”). Yet Greene the short-story writer is far less known.
The plots of his stories are very diverse: from gripping detective tales to psychological mini-novels, from amusing and funny cases to genuine tragedies. The writer’s irony and sharp powers of observation create a special style that makes his prose truly unique.
