In this edition, P. P. Bazhov’s works are presented in three volumes. Volume One includes mostly the author’s early tales, created and published in the pre-war years, and also partly during the Great Patriotic War. This includes cycles of semi-fantastic tales about the Mistress of the Copper Mountain and skilled masters, stories about Poloz and snakes—guardians of gold—as well as legends of the Old Urals. Volume Two contains tales published at the end of the war and in the postwar period, written in a more realistic manner with minimal fantastical elements, and thematically addresses events reaching as far as the present day. Volume Three includes essays and autobiographical works, as well as articles, letters, and archival materials.
