Two teenage girls—one from a well-off family, the other from a troubled one—accidentally became neighbors on the same street, and neither of them could have imagined that their acquaintance would grow into a friendship lasting more than 30 years. They have different temperaments and different priorities: while Tully puts her career first, Kate puts her family first.

Still, between them there is a fragile spiritual bond that, it seems, nothing can break—not the arrival of new people in their lives, not even the tricks of fate.
