This is a wonderful fairy tale about how little troublemaker Nils, who crushed a cat’s tail and caught a gnome in a scoop net, was turned into a dwarf by him—and then embarked on a magical journey: riding on the wings of a goose, Martin, in the flock of the wise goose Akka, he circled all of Sweden. Probably, the writer herself, when she was a bedridden child, dreamed of just such a miraculous flight over forests, valleys, mountains, and lakes—a space threaded with winds and sunshine, which she was deprived of.
