This 19th-century fantastical tale is imbued with elegant irony. On the way to their goal, the heroes face a series of trials and unexpected adventures. The author satirically plays with the theories of the famous scientists — the paleontologist Georges Cuvier and the founder of Egyptology Jean-François Champollion the Younger. In addition, Senkovsky offers his own vision of the evolution of civilization, telling the story of the fictional country of Barabia, which disappeared, like Atlantis.
