“Murder in the Rain” is one of eight short stories by Raymond Chandler, published in pulp magazines between 1935 and 1941. At Chandler’s request, these stories were not reprinted, because he revised them and used their plots for his novels. Thus, the story “Murder in the Rain,” “The Witness,” and “The Vanishing” (“Killer in the Rain,” “The Curtain,” “Finger Man”) served as the basis for the first novel about Philip Marlowe, “The Big Sleep” (The Big Sleep).
Other titles: “The Killer in the Rain,” “Murder in a Rain.”
