Murder at the Abandoned Estate

Joe Jones, an American woman, lost her mother over the past year, divorced, and ended up without a job. But then she suddenly learns she has inherited an old manor in the north of Yorkshire. The estate, however, is in terrible condition—ruined, covered in mold, and with a neglected garden. Still, Joe decides to restore the manor and study her family’s history. But when she finds the caretaker’s body with bullet wounds in the back, she becomes a suspect in the murder. To make matters worse, an unusual portrait connected to the corpse and her family’s history has gone missing. Joe sets out to find the painting and uncover the secrets of her family and the small town—helped by an antiques dealer, a local detective, and the owner’s wife. And she must do it all before the killer strikes again.
