Refuge 3/9

Anna Starobinets “Shelter 3/9” is a sharp-suited phantasmagoria with no analogues in Russian literature.

During a Paris business trip, photojournalist Masha suddenly notices that people around her recoil from her. What begins as a classic “body swap” transforms into a terrifying, addictive multi-layered spectacle. Ordinary life suddenly turns into a frightening fairy tale. Any action performed in the usual reality echoes ominously in a fairy-tale reflection. And soon—even the end of the world.
