In a sleepy town, Turner Falls, where many wealthy families live, something strange has been happening recently. At school, due to an unexplained flare of aggression, a student kills the teacher right during class. Then people start disappearing, communication problems appear—and perhaps the cause of these events should be sought in a bio-lab nearby.
But there will be no investigation: soon, local teenagers will unexpectedly turn into blood-crazed sadists; instead of TV broadcasts and phone ringing, a signal will sound that drives everyone who hears it into catatonia; and a small group of people who miraculously survived will have to fight to stay alive, trying to figure out what actually happened.
