The Swamp of (In)difference, or the Surrogate of Divinity

Attorney Talyzin has once again been asked to participate in the defense of an innocent man. A drug dealer, Ilya Kostomarov, has been murdered—someone who should have many enemies, but everything points to a single person: Stepan Fedorov. He is rich, self-confident, and assures everyone of his rightness. The lawyer’s investigation shows that nothing is clear-cut—during the investigation, many participants pursued their own goals.

As the investigation proceeds, the circle of suspects keeps widening: old family secrets come to light; the motives of the investigator, the prosecutor, the police officer in charge, and those involved in the investigation are revealed. The circle of participants is large, and it’s hard to pick out the true culprit. On top of that, Talyzin has to work in tandem—which makes his work even harder. Is Fedorov truly innocent? That’s what the lawyer will have to find out.
