Description
The abduction of the beautiful Helen by the Trojan prince Paris; King Priam and his fifty sons; the duel between the noble Hector and the swift-footed Achilles; and finally, the fall of Troy as a result of Odysseus’s cunning plan—all of this still belongs to the realm of legend. There’s no way to verify whether there is any real historical kernel in all of it.

And yet, in the main, Homer’s epic does not contradict the facts known to science from written and archaeological sources. However, reality was surely far more grim than the author of the immortal “Iliad” could suspect.

What you have before you is an entirely invented story, carefully woven into the legendary events of three thousand years ago. Using the archaeological background known to modern science, along with motifs from ancient myths, the author tries to revive the spirit of a distant epoch. In short: it’s an original version of the great—and not so great—deeds of Homeric heroes on the eve of the Trojan War. The book is written in the style of a historical detective novel with elements of fantasy.
