The Triumph of Scotland Yard. The Adventure of the Illustrious Client

1 hr. 53 min.
Description
This almanac includes two audio plays based on works by Arthur Conan Doyle: “The Scandal of the (Scottland Yard) Success” (from the story “The Contractor from Norwood”) and “The Adventure of the Notorious Client” (from the story “The Noble Client”).

In the audio play “The Scandal of the (Scottland Yard) Success,” Sherlock Holmes, investigating the murder of Mr. Jonas Aldeyker, the contractor from Lower Norwood—whom Hector McPharlen was accused of—proves this young man’s innocence, thereby saving his life. At the same time, the well-known detective also prevented a terrible scandal that would have ruined Lestrade’s career, the Scotland Yard inspector.

The audio play “The Notorious Client” tells of how the wedding of Baron Gruner to Violette de Merville, the daughter of General de Merville, was averted. With a request to stop this marriage, Colonel James Damry turned to Sherlock Holmes, explaining that Baron Gruner, a famous swindler, is the killer of his own wife and involved in disgusting scandals. Collecting women like butterflies and taking pride in his “collection,” the Baron wrote down all his “feats” in a special book. And the only way with an exceptional chance of disrupting the wedding—by showing this unfortunate book to the virginal victim—would be to present it to her. And so, to obtain this key evidence, Sherlock Holmes commits an unlawful act: a burglary.
