Three Steps Through Time

Who said time can’t be stopped? Who decided it’s endless and all-powerful? An artist from Edo draws his favorite city: its districts, docks, and gardens. Time will destroy them all, but it won’t be able to handle the ink on rice paper…

A ghost train races along the subway tracks at night. It carries the souls of liars and killers, stopping only when the Conductor lets another sinner in. Their souls are doomed—but one day an error happens… The allotted time can end unexpectedly, and who knows whether we won’t find ourselves at the gates of paradise in an endless line, amid the fog?…

“Three Steps Through Time” is a collection of stories in three parts: “Fairytale Past,” “Misty Present,” and “Bright Future.” Even though the stories are written in different genres—from mystical realism to space opera—they’re united by the idea of time’s many facets. Time can be a weapon or an enemy, an inevitability or part of a bigger journey. But for each of the heroes, time will be something of its own.
