A turning point in the course of World War II. Starting in 1943, the forces of the anti-fascist coalition gradually push the Germans out of Italy, but they are reluctant to give up their positions, threatening civilians with punitive operations for any assistance to the Resistance or to the allied forces.
German soldiers retreating through Tuscany are quartered in a village called Castello, near the villa of Countess Sofia de Corsi—and if the Nazis learn what is hidden in the villa and who is sheltering there, the countess and her loved ones will be in serious trouble.
