What does it mean to be a child? And what does it mean to be a parent? Jae-woo is seventeen—older than his years, thoughtful, and attentive to people. Like many others, he grew up in a special center, where each ward has the chance to choose their future guardians themselves through TON—the “Guardianship Reliability Testing.” Jae-woo meets with candidates, asks questions, and tries to understand who he can trust with his life, but the choice turns out to be much more complicated than he expected. And there is less and less time: only two years remain until he leaves the center.

What is it like to feel like you’re part of a family? What kind of adults should be there, so that a child can always feel safe and warm?
