In the early 20th century, the work of K.D. Balmont was very successful and popular, but he died in complete obscurity, so much so that even the exact date of his death is still being уточн ified.

This is the seventh collection of poems by K.D. Balmont. The collection was compiled in the summer of 1903. Merrекюле— a country place on the Baltic Sea coast, in the territory of Estonia.

The collection was first printed in Moscow, by the publishing house “Grif,” in November 1903.
