Stevie leads a busy life in New York: she has a great job, a high social status, and many friends and loved ones. But she lacks one thing—a child. Approaching forty, Stevie decides to undergo in vitro fertilization, even though she has no husband or partner. However, reality turns out to be more complicated than she imagined: being a mother is hard work. While she gets used to her new role, her family and friends create new challenges and unexpected situations for her.
This is a wonderful first novel that touches on complex topics, yet does so in a simple and emotional style.
