The monograph examines the processes of the emergence and the initial dynamics of the main directions of journalism theory in Russia. For each direction, chronological coordinates of its emergence are identified, along with factors and circumstances of its formation, prominent representatives, substantive components, branches of growth, and more. This type of scientific study has no analogues in domestic or world practice. The current stage of the research is part of the project “Theories of Journalism in Russia,” which is a priority in the academic work of the Department of Journalism Theory and Mass Communication and corresponds to the priority research direction “Trends in the Development of Journalism in the Media” at the Higher School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Saint Petersburg State University.
The book is intended for researchers of journalism theory and history, as well as for a broad range of specialists in the social and humanities field.
