Shadows Behind the Glass

Fifteen-year-old Dimka is a good son and an exemplary student. At school he gets straight A’s and endures mocking from classmates, while at home, at the request of his parents, he takes care of his younger sister. When she starts telling stories about toys coming to life at night and flying fish with teeth, Dimka takes it for ordinary fantasies. Until he begins to see them himself—monsters that wait in the yard and peek through the windows. That’s how he ends up in the Game, where anything is possible: even becoming a fearless warrior who kills monsters. One day, in the Game, he meets a bird-girl named Ada. Dimka barely remembers her face—she studied at his school and then disappeared without a trace. It turns out the Game isn’t a harmless illusion. It weaves itself through the whole city… and the monsters are more than real.
