Shadows of the Domino Café

If you suddenly found yourself at the beginning of the 1920s in Moscow and happened to step into the popular café “Domino,” you would see firsthand: Mayakovsky, Sergei Yesenin, Nikolai Klyuev— and also the journalist Oleg Leonidov, who was popular at the time, and actors from Moscow theatres. And “newly minted” Red generals of the Civil War. But also many others: former officers who turned into criminal bandits, and former criminals who became “respectable entrepreneurs.” Also the employees of the militia and of the OGPU who watch everyone. After all, thanks to this café and its visitors, many of the crimes committed in Moscow come to light. And of course, thanks to the main character—Oleg Leonidov, a talented journalist and a man who constantly finds himself at the center of events.
