A person’s fate is full of surprises, and sometimes its twists depend on insignificant accidents. An American of Russian origin and an aspiring writer, Nikolai Torgаnov, would have remained unknown to anyone if one day a certain airline passenger hadn’t opened a book forgotten by someone else and started reading it. Now Torganov has everything—an Oscar for best screenplay, a relationship with a great Hollywood actress, work with Steven Spielberg… Only one thing worries him: a strange feeling that he has lost something in his distant Russian past.
