Such Strange Fusion-Style Dreams

Stories in the genres of mysticism and magical realism. The mysterious permeates these stories the same way it does in life: simply, sometimes even routinely. Sometimes, while reading a particular story, it seems as if there’s no mysticism or magic in it at all—however, once you finish reading it or look at it from another angle, what people call the inexplicable becomes clearly visible.

«Déjà vu»
An elderly man fears the approaching death. One day, while looking at one of the graves in the cemetery, something inexplicable suddenly opens up to him…

«The sins of the priest»
A young priest lets a fugitive nun into the church premises, a woman with nowhere else to go. She is downtrodden and unhappy, and he, experiencing an inexplicable sense of guilt toward her, decides to “sacrifice” himself for her—committing a sin with her. A miracle happens to the nun—she blossoms as a woman, and he suddenly understands why that feeling of guilt was there.

«Angels know»
A respectable, no longer young businessman marries again—he takes as his wife a beautiful student who is old enough to be his daughter—and he loves her more than anyone else. But then problems start in his business; some strong and dangerous people begin to hunt him; and strange dreams come to him—as if calling him to a certain house, where he must learn something. By some mysterious twist of circumstances he finds this house.

«The devil»
From childhood, the three of them—a pair of boys and a girl—were bound by strong friendship and by a place that lured them with its mystery: a window in an old house across the river. Someone once told them the devil lived there. They would come to the riverbank and watch that window; they desperately wanted to peer into it. And then, when they grew up, one of them swam across the river and looked into that window.

«Classmates, or the Lost Generation»
Two acquaintances sit in a café and talk, studying a school photo of one of their classmates. During the conversation, touching on different life questions, one tells the other about what happened to each classmate after graduation. In the finale, unexpectedly (Author’s note: I confess, I love unexpected endings and often use them in my prose.), it becomes clear who and these two are.

«Buddhist winter»
A story about the lives of a friendly group of artists who, in parties and philosophical debates about art, in illusions of creative searching, do not notice how they end up on the path of personal degradation and self-destruction—one that mysteriously coincides with the creative path of a popular artist, their idol.

«Such strange dreams in the fusion style»
A young woman loves wearing sexy things. But then she begins to have terrifying erotic dreams in which something she never expected is revealed to her: the thoughts of men who look at her.

«Dopamine»
About romantic chemistry. A story of the withering of once fiercely passionate love between a man and a woman, told through the prism of five senses—sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell. But amazingly—the inexplicable feeling always knew it would be like this.

«Light, named Ya»
A story about the mystical “Ya” inside a person.[/spoiler]
