In an apartment, the businessman Modest Pechorский is found dead. Judging by the suicide note, he took his own life. That conclusion was reached by prosecutors’ representatives. However, the head of the department for combating banditry, Major Vitaly Shchelkunov, does not agree with such a version. After carefully studying details of the deceased man’s personal life, the major discovers that recently Pechorsky had no reason to voluntarily leave the world. But on that fateful day something extraordinary happened—something for which the businessman had to pay with his life…
