Description
The novel’s hero “Mystery and Blood” is a Russian officer who, in Petrograd, joins a White Guard underground that, in the first years after the revolution, boldly opposes the Bolsheviks’ rule and the bloody terror of the Cheka.

“Could you call this compact, soaked in blood of sacrifices and in sacrificial mystery, a novel of any other kind? Mystery and blood… Blood and mystery. This is the slogan, the symbol of Russia’s national martyrdom—of Russian officerhood. With vivid, bright strokes the author sketches a whole series of sacrificial types… This book, with its mysterious bloody touches—under which one can easily sense the heavy, endless tragedy of the ‘last of the Mohicans.’” (N. Korczak-Kotowicz, “Narvskiy listok,” 1928)

The author of the book is Pyotr Mosevich Pilsky, a Russian officer, a participant in World War I, an émigré, a prominent journalist, a writer of fiction, and a literary critic.

The audiobook was voiced and made freely available by order of the memorial, educational and historical-cultural center “White Cause.”

The cover design uses a painting by the artist Mark Shuba “Don’t take it!”
