The “Sacred Bethel” of the famous French publicist Leo Taxil—also known for the books “The Funny Bible” and “The Funny Gospel”—recreates the history of Christianity, or more precisely, its Western branch: Catholicism. This is a very peculiar story. Its supporters carefully conceal it. Written vividly, satirically, and vividly engaging, the book shows that church hierarchs, as it were, are the focal point of all the vices and sins against which they speak in words.
