A practical audio course for learning American English using Dr. Pimsleur’s new method. No textbooks and no cramming. Just listen and speak! The disc contains 15 hours of educational audio material — 30 lessons of 30 minutes each. The method was developed and is successfully used in the USA.
The course consists of three parts
Part 1: Understanding the structure and algorithm of the English language.
You will learn to build CORRECT English sentences of practically any level of complexity. This course is the most effective and fastest way to learn English today. It is a fundamentally different methodology. What distinguishes it from all other methods is not only its approach to teaching, but also the very final goal of learning. It is not just a new form of presenting the material — the learning material itself is different here, sharply differing from the traditional one. This method relies on and uses its own terminology — clear, functional, absolutely transparent, and understandable. A transcription has been developed with the help of which any beginner can easily read and learn English words, and its own rules/algorithms have been derived — there are only 3 of them. Exception words have been systematized, the “problems” of articles and “irregular” verbs have been solved. The most difficult “tenses,” which present a particular challenge for Russian-speaking learners, are successfully mastered at the 3rd–4th step of study. And you will gain a full understanding of the language structure at the final 7th step. After studying this course, you will be able to say in CORRECT English practically everything you want.
The first part of the course is presented in audio format.
The maximum effect from taking the course comes from listening to it! You can listen to and study it wherever it is convenient for you: at home, in the subway, in the car, etc.
After listening to the first part of the course “Super-Fast Mastery of English,” all you will need is a dictionary and practice!
Part 2: Expanding your vocabulary.
You will realistically and almost effortlessly be able to memorize 100 words daily, spending only 20 minutes a day. The use of an original word-memorization technique will allow you to reduce by dozens of times the amount of time needed to learn English words. The learning method is based on memorizing not foreign words as such, but foreign words transformed into Russian words through a system of associations. Scientists have proven that the productivity of associative memory is 25 times greater than the productivity of mechanical memory, and if you add certain mechanisms from the art of effective memorization and information retention from the arsenal of the second part of the course, you get a 100-fold increase in productivity (practice shows that students using this memorization system master more than 3,000 words in less than 1 month, unlike traditional “cramming,” where more than 2 years are spent on the same number of words). Such associations, used as memory keys, easily become fixed in memory and make it possible to solve the task of expanding vocabulary in an extremely short time.
You are offered a unique opportunity to build, in 35–40 hours, a solid vocabulary of the 3,000 most common English words.
With the course “Super-Fast Mastery of English,” the process of memorizing words will become easy and effortless!
You will simply want to open the second part of the course again and with pleasure memorize another hundred or two English words!
Part 3: Learning exactly those words that will allow you to adapt to the “English-speaking environment” as quickly as possible.
You will receive a vocabulary of 3,000 words arranged by frequency of use. You will begin your studies with the most frequently used words.
Language-learning experience shows that about 800 properly chosen words can cover up to 90 percent of the vocabulary needed for everyday communication.
Obviously, it is better to master the most necessary words than to keep rushing to learn new ones all the time. Moreover, the traditional approach to learning English assumes memorizing words by categories — since school days you may be able to tell everything about notebooks, books, pens, pencils, etc.; your vocabulary may be measured in several hundred words, but you cannot use them in communication for the reasons described above.
According to statistics, about 80 correctly chosen, high-frequency words will cover approximately 50% of word usage in everyday speech in any language;
— 400 words will cover about 80%;
— 600 words — about 85%;
— 800 words will already cover about 90%;
— and 1,500–2,000 words — about 95% of what needs to be said or heard in the most ordinary situation.
A properly chosen vocabulary helps you understand quite a lot with very modest study effort.
