The wedding of Jonas and Frieda is scheduled for four o’clock, and the guests are already arriving at the little house at the edge of the station settlement where preparations for the celebration are underway. A wagon has rolled in from the farm where Frieda still has distant relatives—while Jonas has none at all. And from the settlement, someone has come—perhaps about fifteen people altogether…
