A dark Danish series where familiar scenes from fairy tales become the setting for elaborate murders.

Denmark is shaken by the brutal murder of a child. Someone has recreated the final scene from the fairy tale “The Little Match Girl” in full. Ten-year-old Maia froze to death with a smile on her face; in her hands she held a matchbox. Detective Tom Cross investigates the case.

The whole city is talking only about this terrible incident. Dina Beck, a psychologist, has the teacher of the murdered girl come to see her. Dina would be glad to keep away from the horrifying news, because she herself has an eight-year-old son, but the circumstances force her to delve into the details of the dreadful events.
