Description
Alistair MacLean (1922–1987) — the famous British writer known for his 28 gripping novels and adventure stories, as well as for his work as a screenwriter. His works gained wide popularity among readers around the world. The total circulation of MacLean’s books exceeded 150 million copies, and 18 films were created based on his novels and screenplays. In 1983, the University of Glasgow awarded him a doctoral degree in literature studies.

The heroes of MacLean’s works perform feats and win victories in different corners of the planet, including Communist Hungary, the Mexican Gulf, Singapore, the south of France, San Francisco, the Netherlands, and the Arctic Ocean.

In one of his works, “Fear Shuts the Door,” a plane carrying secret cargo was shot down near Cuba. In that catastrophe, the family of one of the owners of the airline is killed along with the crew, and now his only goal becomes revenge against those responsible for the tragedy.
