Fear

Late in the evening, in one of the alleys off Leontyevsky Lane in Moscow, a man’s body is found. Forensic experts and the operational group of the criminal investigation department arrive immediately, led by Lieutenant Colonel Danilov. In the dead man’s pockets, besides money, there are stacks of cigarette packs and a receipt from the Astoria restaurant, as well as an identification card of an officer of the MUR—though its authenticity raises serious doubts. It looks like the operatives will have to solve yet another difficult puzzle with many unknowns.
