In the City of Reeds, standing on the bank of the Great River, lived the family of the wizard Vasthem, who later became a black magician. Vasthem’s practice of black magic brought terrible misfortunes upon his family. For his sorcerous experiments, Vasthem killed his wife and took his daughter with him to the realm of the dead. Vasthem’s son, the young Sequenre, went into the realm of the dead to save his sister.
