Steel Heart

1941. After the Allied victory in North Africa, a thousand captured Italian soldiers are sent as forced labor to a remote island off the Scottish coast. Their arrival becomes the cause of discord in the local community: many island residents shun the Italians and see them only as bloodthirsty enemies. But for Dorothy and Constance—two orphaned sisters—this is simply a group of tortured poor men: wounded, hungry, and cold.
